Announcements: First week of March 2009

We have three new titles added to our list! Reverend Fun, Tracy and Tristan, and Dog Eat Doug will join the ranks of our family friendly comics! See “FRIENDS OF WEBCOMICS.CC” below!

SPOTLIGHT!:

Every week, we will spotlight a special webcomic in this section. Recently, it’s been the Zondervan online graphic novels. Today, it’s the Ash the Time Traveling Kitty series from Cow and Buffalo. But I’m a sucker for time travel stories . . . and this one is a doozy. It lasted for five strips, and spans the ends of time . . .

WEBCOMICS.CC LIBRARY NEWS:

The WebComics.cc Library was recently split into three separate sections instead of being a single section with three parts. The three sections can be found here: Bookshelf, Magazine Rack, and The Funny Pages.

There’s a LOT of addtions to the Bookshelf, and more are coming. It’s not really ready for prime time yet . . . but if you are curious and want to find something fun and new to read, check it out. We’ll announce more when it’s ready for you.

NEW THIS WEEK:

WEBCOMICS.CC TITLES:

Hero TV

Presenting Hero TV #0 — Capes Live on Location. This section was drawn by Kneon Transitt (of Music of the Spheres fame!) and Jeremy Zehr. Next week will wrap up this three page section . . . and answer the question: what happens to the boy with the ball? Well, what happens? Find out next week!

To read the story from the beginning, START HERE. Also, check out Bud Rogers’ comments about his memories of pulling the Hero TV project together!

Previous stories: Hero TV: The Mark (The Director’s Cut).

Hero TV updates every Monday.

The final page of Korah’s Rebellion went up last week. This coming week, we will be starting a new story. To read Korah’s Rebellion from the beginning START HERE.

Previous stories:

Chosen Mortals: Good News.

Chosen Mortals updates every Wednesday.

ArmorQuest

Last week’s two pages picked up with Timothy telling his fellow villagers about the dragon. How did they respond? Check out page 23 and page 24. Poor Timothy. If you are new to ArmorQuest, you can start from the beginning:

FRIENDS OF WEBCOMICS.CC

NEW! Dog Eat Doug

A comic strip about the having a baby in the home . . . from the perspective of the family dog. Very funny, very cute. I love reading it every day.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
NEW! Reverend Fun
Skewed humor strip that skewers some of the trappings of the Christian life. I’ve seen a lot of strips like this, but this is easily my favorite. (I even did a blog post showing some of my favorites.)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

NEW! Tracy and Tristan

A girl, an angel, and a cat.  Tracy and Tristan is a tilted view of living a Christian life. Tracy struggles with her Christianity and on how to stay on the Right Track. Doug is her Guardian Angel. He provides insight and advice. Tristan is a cat.

Boodachitaville

Every Friday, Boodachitaville posts a strangely and/or hilariously skewed view of the world through the eyes of Bob and Eric, cartoon avatars of the creators who happen to be named Bob and Eric. Topics range from religion to video games, politics to movies . . . to pizza!

You can start from the beginning here. It’s really funny stuff. Check it out! Boodachitaville updates every Friday.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Clockwork Game: The Illustrious Career of a Chess Playing Automaton
Jane Irwin’s historical drama about a chess playing automaton called the Turk is a great story, and a superb work of historical fiction. You’re definitely going to want to start from the beginning of this one (it’s now past page 50). Updates every Thursday.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Cow and Buffalo

Hilarious humor strip about the adventures of a, well, cow and a buffalo. Except this week. If you want to start from the beginning, go here. As a humor strip, you don’t need to read them all to enjoy it . . . but you’ll enjoy it so much you’ll want to read them all. Updates every Sunday.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dreamland Chronicles
Scott Christian Sava’s insanely popular webcomic is what you would get if Pixar made a Narnia movie into a comic book. You just may want to get started by going to our library and reading book by book, or just starting from the beginning on his website. There’s a reason he’s got millions of readers. Updates every weekday.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Kurt Kolka’s The Cardinal

The investigation into the Scarlet Assassin continues! Two new pages of Kurt Kolka’s adventures of The Cardinal, a comic strip that has been running in one form or another for decades now, went up since our last announcment.

You can start this new story from the beginning here. (And watch for WebComics.cc’s presentation of The Cardinal Classic, starting from the very beginning of Kurt Kolka’s original run!)

The Cardinal updates every Sunday.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Music of the Spheres
A fantasy webcomic in the vein of The Dark Crystal, Narnia, Lord of the Rings, or Nausicaa in the Valley of the Wind. To read from the beginning START HERE. What happened to that whale? It ain’t good. Although it could be better than what’s about to happen . . . the Plague Doctor is coming . . .
Music of the Spheres updates every Monday.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

One Swoop Fell

If you’re not reading One Swoop Fell, you should. One Swoop Fell features beautiful artwork and compelling characters. One Swoop Fell is the best of what all ages comics can and should be. Two pages have gone up since our last announcement, as Topo the bear’s friend Swoop may have just become . . . well, you should just read it now, shouldn’t you?

New to One Swoop Fell? Read from the beginning HERE.

One Swoop Fell updates every Wednesday.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tastes Like Chicken
This week’s Tastes Like Chicken is the funniest one yet — and that’s saying a lot!
A single panel humor strip, tastes Like Chicken is part Far Side, part Seinfeld. No new comic this week, but you can check out the hilarious archive here.
Updates every Wednesday.
